The Worcester County Bar Association is a voluntary association of over 1000 members. The purpose of the association is to maintain the honor of the profession, to promote the administration of justice, to advance the science of jurisprudence, to promote legal education and to foster and encourage cooperation and good fellowship among the members of the bar.
The Worcester County Bar Association has been serving Worcester County lawyers and the Worcester County community since 1887. We offer programs and services of interest and assistance to attorneys and the community at large. The Worcester County Bar Association continues to be a leader in its effort to serve its members and the community. The many programs sponsored by the WCBA continue to grow in number, as does the respect for the organization.
Among our community programs are the Lawyer Referral Service, Reduced Fee Program, Speakers Bureau, Law Day Essay Contest. We have an active Community Engagement Committee that gives members the opportunity to get involved in various community activities. We co-sponsor the Lawyer for the Day Programs in the Worcester Probate, Housing and District Courts and the Honorable Harry Zarrow Homeless Advocacy Program.
For our members, the WCBA has overĀ 12 committees and 13 sections, that keep members apprised of new legislation and current practices in a specific area of law. Numerous continuing legal education programs are sponsored throughout the year and most are offered at no cost to our members. Our mentor program is available to assist any lawyer member who wishes to consult with another attorney. The WCBA publishes Legal Lines, a monthly newsletter, which keeps members informed of our activities, programs and current events. Our website includes contact information for all WCBA members, seminar materials from past programs and a calendar of events. The WCBA sponsors a wide variety of social events throughout the year that allow you to meet other lawyers, judges and others that are beneficial in your everyday practice. The WCBA maintains a Lawyer Referral Service to help build your practice and a Lawyer Emergency Assistance Plan.
The Executive Committee is the governing body of the Worcester County Bar Association and is composed of our president, president-elect, secretary/treasurer, past president (ex officio) and fifteen other members of the association. These positions are elected by the members of the association.
