Lawyer Referral Service: The Worcester County Bar Association established the Lawyer Referral Service to assist individuals who are looking to hire a private attorney but do not know who to call. Through this program we are able to refer the public to attorneys that practice in Worcester County who can provide legal representation in the area of law the individual needs assistance in. Referrals can be provided in most areas of law.
Reduced Fee Program: Members of the Worcester County Bar Association provide legal assistance to residents of Worcester County for a reduced fee. Clients must fill out an application and fall within financial guidelines to be eligible. Not all areas of law are handled through this program.
Honorable Harry Zarrow Homeless Advocacy Project: This program is a cooperative effort between Community Legal Aid and the Worcester County Bar Association. Through this program legal services are provided to the homeless community at various shelters in Worcester County.
The Lawyer for the Day Program: The Lawyer for the Day Program is co-sponsored by Community Legal Aid and the Worcester County Bar Association. This program assists pro se litigants in the Worcester Probate and Family Court. The Lawyer for the Day Programs in the Worcester Housing and District Courts is a collaborative effort between the Worcester County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Justice Project. The programs were established to assist low income pro se litigants appearing in the Housing Court and the debt collection session of the Worcester District Court.
Probate Court Conciliations Program: The Worcester County Bar Association provides pro bono conciliators to the Worcester Probate and Family Court.
Legal Fee Arbitration Panel: The legal fee arbitration panel of the Worcester County Bar Association helps to resolve disputes between attorneys and their clients over legal fees.
Community Engagement and Law Day Committees: The Community Engagement Committee of the Worcester County Bar Association provides members the opportunity to get involved in various community activities. The WCBA Law Day Committee involves students in the celebration of Law Day by sponsoring an Annual Essay contest for eighth grade students in schools throughout Worcester County. Students are also invited to attend the Appeals Court session in Worcester on Law Day and the students are provided with information on the Appeals court process by volunteer lawyers prior to the sitting.
